It’s war-zone reporting, but surprisingly humorous! My initial thought was triggered by the shortened title, and I initially mistook someone on the poster for Jodie Foster before seeing Tina Fey in the trailer. It's a wonderful war drama that manages to be both entertaining and hard to believe is based on a true story. This feels like it could be these directors’ finest work so far. The cast is excellent, but Tina Fey truly shines. I would consider this among the very best films released in 2016. I've watched numerous movies centered around the Afghan war, and few are as enjoyable as this one. It offers a completely different perspective on Afghanistan amidst conflict. The story follows an American journalist named Kim, who is dispatched there to provide news coverage. Initially, she struggles adjusting to her surroundings, but eventually makes friends and finds a sense of normalcy despite the constant danger. The remainder of the film details how her life and career are changed by working in such a perilous setting. Tina Fey not only stars in the movie but also produced it, making this arguably her strongest film recently. The first portion was fantastic; however, I felt the middle section lost some momentum before recovering strongly towards the end. The narrative primarily concentrates on the daily lives of journalists operating in that dangerous location, alongside their challenging assignments. Action sequences are kept to a minimum and emphasize the journalistic aspects. So, if you’re anticipating something like 'A Thousand Times Good Night,' this is different—a welcome change, really. It's definitely worth seeing! 8/10
