There’s a mixed feeling about this one. Still, I believe my assessment of it leans slightly toward the positive. *Where the Crawdads Sing* feels a bit too lengthy, and the ending didn't completely convince me, but even so, I think I enjoy it to some degree. The performances are the main reason for that, notably Daisy Edgar-Jones and David Strathairn. Taylor John Smith and Garret Dillahunt also deliver dependable work. Aside from the actors, most other aspects don’t leave a lasting impression. The final resolution didn't quite land with me. It seemed like the movie was withholding information about what would happen, but how it ultimately unfolds isn’t entirely to my taste. Ultimately, it’s a rather direct and uncomplicated film. It came close to being something I’d consider a disappointment, but I think it manages to do enough well. A score of 6/10 doesn't seem right, so I'll go with 7/10 instead.
