It’s hard to describe; it's as if a tree falling dropped a seed somewhere. I find myself in agreement with the critics on this film. It felt strangely familiar, like I’d seen it before, and it played out a very recognizable thriller storyline. There were several problems, starting with how the central plot unfolded. The relationship between a mother and child is delicate territory, and that's where the movie faltered. While their intention seemed to be exploring that connection, they didn’t quite succeed in portraying the surrogate mother convincingly. From an entertainment standpoint, it simply didn’t deliver enough of a thriller experience. The ending felt abrupt, just appearing suddenly and then concluding quickly. Initially, I wondered if this was a remake, but it seems to have drawn inspiration or borrowed elements from another source. This psychological-thriller centers on the story of a prosperous couple who can't have children. They choose Anna, a young woman, to be their surrogate mother. Things progress smoothly until Anna develops feelings for the father and things start to unravel. The fate of the couple, Anna, and the baby is revealed in the final portion of the film. Fortunately, this isn’t the worst movie released this year; I've seen films considerably worse. However, it’s probably one you could safely skip. There’s no faulting the actors; they fulfilled what their characters required. The technical aspects were well-executed and of high quality—those are areas where I gave it some credit. If the script had been better developed, the film could have achieved a much higher standard. What bothered me most was the lack of diversity; it felt like a movie made specifically for Black audiences. There are many other films out there that are far superior to this one worth watching instead. _4/10_
