I watched “When Evil Lurks” with some hesitation, not really knowing what I was getting into. The movie is entirely in Spanish, subtitled so you can understand the story. It’s essentially a Spanish version of exorcism movies like "The Exorcist." But instead of an actual exorcism taking place, it centers on Satan possessing people, jumping from body to body after each person dies—always moving to whoever was responsible for the previous death. Unfortunately, how they made the film didn't quite work out well; the writing felt scattered and jumped around a lot. The actors tried their best with what they were given, but it was hard to figure out where things were going because the story wasn’t put together properly. There’s one part that really bothered me—a child is shown completely naked, which seemed pointless and excessive. It felt like an unnecessary scene that went too far, making the movie unpleasant to watch and raising some serious ethical questions. Ultimately, "When Evil Lurks" doesn't manage to tell a story that makes sense or holds together, and it’s brought down by some troubling decisions and a confusing plot. That moment with the child actor, in particular, really takes away from anything good the film might have offered.
