I don't usually hold romantic comedies to a high standard. If the writing isn’t offensively bad or condescending, featuring clever exchanges and believable connection between the main actors, I am willing to forgive some fluffiness or familiar plot points. It's pretty much unavoidable for movies in this category, as they generally adhere to established conventions. I recognize Anna Faris from her work on the television series Mom, which was very good. Her portrayal here is engaging because of its oddball nature, but also has moments of genuine warmth that made me want her character to succeed. It’s not a particularly innovative film or one of the best I've seen, but it entertained me enough for me to finish watching it, and that’s really what matters when it comes to romantic comedies.
