I have a weakness for intense crime stories, and *‘What Doesn’t Kill You’* reminded me of films like 2014’s *'The Drop'* and 2010’s *'The Town'*. It surpasses that earlier film considerably but doesn’t quite reach the same quality as the later one. The performances are excellent across the board, with Ethan Hawke (as Paulie), Mark Ruffalo (as Brian), and Amanda Peet (as Stacy) all doing a great job—Ruffalo truly shines, portraying his character's struggles exceptionally well. Hawke and Peet provide solid supporting work. Alex Wurman’s score is wonderful; it complements the unfolding events perfectly. The dialogue and cinematography are also very good. The basic idea behind the story works well – there’s enough to hold my attention, at least. It features a strong cast, an engaging storyline, and a reasonable length. I would suggest watching it.
