Werewolf by Night really takes some chances with its style, leaning into the feel of classic monster movies, and it’s a huge success because of it! It's become my top pick for Marvel releases this year. The distinctive look—using black and white visuals along with film grain—was an interesting decision that created a wonderful sense of atmosphere and brought back feelings of nostalgia. Werewolf by Night went a bit further into horror territory, showing more action and violence than other Marvel films, including scenes where characters suffer injuries and are consumed. Still, it’s ultimately a Disney+ presentation, so I wouldn't describe it as truly frightening or brutal. As someone who appreciates Elsa Bloodstone in the comics, I liked seeing her character and learning about her history within this standalone story that also ties into a larger world. The inventive choices made throughout, impressive effects that aren’t excessive, introducing new characters, and the horror elements all combine to make Werewolf by Night stand out as one of the strongest additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently.
