Renata Jones extended an invitation for me to attend the premiere of We, Brothers, and I honestly wasn’t sure what I was getting into. However, I found myself quite taken aback—in a good way. The film immediately captivates viewers with its noir feel and old-fashioned ambiance. The acting is strong across the board, but particularly noteworthy are the performances from the two actors who carry the central storyline; they establish a convincing connection marked by underlying anxiety and feelings that go unsaid. The visuals are striking, creating the sensation of entering a 1940s gangster movie, though it’s clear there's a contemporary Brazilian sensibility at play. It runs for a brief time but has considerable style, and I was left hoping for more. This is an ambitious work of film. My respect to Renata Jones and everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition with such skill. 10/10
