It's a reasonably good horror movie, though not exceptional. While it may not be the best horror film of the year, it tells an engaging story in a straightforward way. The title gives away quite a bit about what to expect; the plot centers on a couple grieving the loss of their child in a car accident who relocate to a rural house and unwittingly move into a haunted location. The explanation for the presence of malevolent entities within the home is eventually revealed, but as with many horror movies, it's withheld until later in the story. The film is set in the 1970s, and the costumes, hairstyles, dialogue, vehicles, and architecture successfully transport viewers back four decades. However, the script was underwhelming; while not attempting to be overly complex, it felt predictable. It’s easy to anticipate what will happen next, which detracts from the experience. That's really the film's main flaw, otherwise it was acceptable. The acting wasn't particularly memorable, though it was adequate. The characters were well-developed and filmed in a nice location with appealing surroundings. Considering the limited budget, the relatively unknown cast, and the director’s lack of recognition, the movie isn't terrible, especially since its brief runtime prevents it from feeling tedious. This type of film isn't something I would enthusiastically suggest, but given that horror films often receive low scores, even movies rated around 50/50 can be considered watchable. So, proceed with caution when deciding whether or not to view this one. 5/10
