This zombie film takes a unique approach. It's probably best categorized as a romantic comedy featuring zombies, with some action sequences mixed in. It’s certainly not an unpleasant viewing experience. While I typically favor zombie films that embrace a more ruthless style—you know, the “shoot anything that moves and then shoot it again just to be certain” kind—I still found this one quite entertaining. The combination of "romantic" and "zombie" is unexpected, yet somehow it manages to function effectively within the film's narrative. My greatest enjoyment came from R’s internal monologue; it’s genuinely hilarious at times. The plot itself, concerning how the zombies begin to heal themselves, is admittedly quite absurd, but that's not really what you seek in a zombie movie anyway. I’ve encountered far worse, and this wasn’t intended as a traditional horror film, so I can accept that. I believe this marks the first time I’ve seen a zombie movie told from the zombies’ point of view—another unexpected element that surprisingly worked well. The voice-overs were instrumental in achieving that perspective. The special effects are relatively understated for a zombie film, but I think they're appropriate for the tone of the movie. The “bonies” are the most monstrous creatures shown and their makeup is quite impressive. Sadly, their movements appear stiff and noticeably computer-generated, which is disappointing and represents my only real criticism regarding the technical aspects of the film. Unless you have a strong aversion to zombies, I would suggest giving this one a try. It’s particularly appealing if zombie movies aren't usually your thing; you might be pleasantly surprised.
