It’s hard to believe how little we've seen of Ally Sheedy over the years; as a child, she was definitely someone I recognized. Now, her appearances are few and far between, mostly limited to shows like Psych. It's too bad. Recently, my fiance—who is part of the Millennial generation—and I have been attempting to share some older movies with her and her friends. This one didn’t go over well at all. They endured it, but their main focus was making fun of how dated the special effects are. It seems they enjoy poking fun at things simply because they're old. Regardless of that reaction, this film had a significant impact; I can only think of JFK as another movie that caused changes in Congress and led to new legislation being passed. Despite all that, it was genuinely enjoyable to watch, even though Matthew Broderick seemed less like a computer expert and more easily dominated. That said, he did portray the role of an adolescent convincingly enough.
