Coinciding with the United States’ recent actions concerning Iran, “War Machine” has arrived. This confidently presented movie depicts a scenario where the American armed forces hold global power, and its characters—a group of working-class individuals including one female—confront various threats, such as enormous UFOs reminiscent of 1980s VCRs, complete with legs, missiles, and laser weaponry. The film can be seen as a straightforward military action movie intended primarily for enjoyment. Numerous characters meet violent ends, and explosions are frequent. Ultimately, considering the present atmosphere of conflict, it’s not unexpected that this uncomplicated science fiction war film features overt US military promotion. It's an unremarkable viewing experience.
