It’s hard to believe this film came out in 2011. The story involves unidentified flying objects turning into a frightening danger as an alien army starts attacking major cities along coastlines and rivers. A U.S. Marine staff sergeant and his unit are deployed for combat, discovering they have to confront an unfamiliar foe and safeguard the remnants of Los Angeles. I found "Battle: Los Angeles (2011)" enjoyable for what it set out to be; it was perfectly acceptable. The film is also just that—acceptable. However, the U.S. military messaging felt very overt in this one. Also, Alan’s performance seemed a little strange at times, particularly during his closing remarks. P.S. If any of that didn't make sense, I mean to say "War Machine (2026)" is essentially "Battle: Los Angeles (2011)". Feel free to watch the two movies one after another and then let me know if they aren’t the same.
