The film brought to mind John Wayne’s "Mc Q" from 1974, except here Dolph Lundgren portrays the grumpy, rule-breaking police officer whose methods have frustrated his superiors. They want to get rid of this frankly unpleasant character named “Johansen” by sending him on an assignment to Mexico—to bring back a key witness in a double-murder case. "Rosa" (Christina Villa) is anything but timid and their initial interactions are tense, but things shift as they both come to suspect that someone is manipulating them. The identity of this manipulator is the central mystery. Kelsey Grammer’s appearances tend to be a warning sign for me, and his performance here exemplifies the film's overall lack of distinction. It lacks originality, relying on familiar plot devices—constant escapes from dangerous situations involving incredible odds and heavy weaponry. His dark sunglasses seemed to grant him some kind of invincibility; he appears to heal quickly. The story incorporates elements like deception, corrupt law enforcement, and betrayal, all crammed into a predictable thriller that’s low on excitement. It's suitable for television at most, unfortunately.
