It's not just there as decoration; it also serves as a commentary on behaviors common in large Indonesian families—being too involved in each other's lives, while hiding pride and pretending to be concerned. The film illustrates this clearly through Arga’s family. Family get-togethers turn into opportunities for people to flaunt their successes, which creates resentment within Arga. It influences his thinking so that he believes working isn’t about earning a living but about getting approval and recognition. This is when you really notice how surroundings can affect the way we think. Ultimately, it boils down to this: are we living for ourselves or to satisfy what others think? Regarding its shortcomings, I would say they're pretty noticeable, though not entirely surprising.
