The movie centers on a kidnapping gone wrong, escalating into a hostage scenario within a house where a black mamba snake is present. I found this to be unexpectedly impressive, featuring excellent performances from everyone involved. It unfolds as a deliberate and measured drama that avoids making the snake its primary focus; instead, it utilizes the creature to create a constant feeling of unease, which genuinely kept me anxious, and the snake's attacks were quite startling when they happened. The viewpoints presented from the snake’s perspective while it moved around were something I particularly enjoyed. Apparently, Kinski and Reed had a dislike for one another, and that animosity is evident in their scenes together, adding to the overall tension.
