This isn't your typical depiction of vampires. Amy Heckerling wrote and directed this film, which features Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Stevens, Richard Lewis, and Wallace Shawn. The movie is set in contemporary New York City and centers on two wealthy young women who are vampires, enjoying the nightlife while avoiding consuming human blood. However, romantic entanglements and other complications emerge, causing problems for them. The film, *Vamps*, has a bubbly, silly, and appealing quality, with solid performances and adequate writing, making it an inoffensive way to spend some time. It doesn't quite reach the level of sophistication that Heckerling seemed to be aiming for, though. The humor and nods to vampire mythology are pleasant enough, but the plot itself feels inconsistent. Despite this, it’s not a bad movie and could be worth watching on television if you're looking for something easygoing. It earns a 5/10.
