The film borrows elements from several prior works, including Fright Night, The Lost Boys, Attack the Block, and The Monster Squad. The special effects work well, and there's a good sense of humor throughout. It was unexpected to see Method Man playing the part of a church father, but I’ll concede it worked. The movie incorporates an urban feel despite its PG-13 rating. There is some language used, though not excessive, and gore isn't prominent, making it suitable for families—similar to something like Goosebumps. Nevertheless, the film might not strongly appeal to many adult viewers unless they connect with the narrative.
