It came up during a recent Disney movie run, and there’s some debate about whether it even qualifies as a Disney film—but I’m including it anyway. *Valiant* is uneven, but I think it manages to provide enjoyable entertainment. The animation quality isn't great; at times it looks pretty good, but other moments are noticeably flawed. The storyline is fairly standard and easy to guess, though I personally found it appealing because it centers on war pigeons during World War II. It’s generally amusing, even if the characters seem a bit too preoccupied with sexuality. The film's greatest strength lies in its voice cast, who all deliver solid performances. Ricky Gervais (voicing Bugsy) is particularly well-suited to his part. There are many other recognizable voices as well: Ewan McGregor (Valiant), John Cleese (Mercury), Jim Broadbent (Monty), Hugh Laurie (Gutsy), and Tim Curry (Von Talon), among others. McGregor’s performance is mostly good, although he occasionally veers into overly sentimental territory. I understand why people have such differing reactions to this film; it's easy to see how opinions could be divided. Nevertheless, I was sufficiently entertained by it, and it’s not one I would object to watching again.
