This is awful. A complete waste of both time and Mads Mikkelsen’s talent! It seems to be trying for something like what *The Northman* achieved in 2022—which was quite good—but it doesn't succeed at all. The entire film feels cheap and poorly made, aside from the intentionally bleak aesthetic. Even the editing is bad, with unnecessary breaks dividing it into chapters. As I already said, Mikkelsen’s silence is a missed opportunity; they could have cast anyone. The other actors don’t fare much better either, though it was mildly interesting to spot Gary Lewis and Jamie Sives in small roles. No one involved actively makes the film worse, but nobody helps it along either. I had hoped *Valhalla Rising* would be enjoyable. It wasn't. At least they kept the running time relatively brief—just a depressing 90 minutes.
