I've generally only reviewed anthology films as complete packages, and I expect to return to doing so going forward. However, after watching the first three-quarters of the original _V/H/S_, then _V/H/S/2_ and _V/H/S: Viral_ back-to-back, they all blend together, making it difficult to recall which segment belongs to which film. So, for now at least, I’m going to attempt some very brief reviews of each individual piece instead of the films as a whole. **Tape 49**: The introductory scenes. These were always the most frivolous aspect of the series. It isn't effective as an introduction and doesn't function well on its own. **Phase I Clinical Trials**: Adam Wingard delivers some stronger material here, possessing a degree of intensity reminiscent of the first _V/H/S_. This is one short that I believe could easily be expanded into a full-length feature. Some better performances would have helped, though (something that could be said about all the segments and isn't necessarily a major drawback). **A Ride in the Park**: There’s essentially just one concept at play here, but that’s acceptable for a short film included within an anthology. Presenting a zombie movie from a first-person perspective—the point of view of the zombie itself—is quite clever. It could have adhered to the premise more completely, ideally, but the shooting style probably makes sense considering the broader _V/H/S_ storyline. **Safe Haven**: The strongest offering from _V/H/S/2_. It’s not flawless and surprisingly required me to put on my glasses to read the subtitles, which seems somewhat at odds with both the other segments and the "Found Footage" concept in general. Nevertheless, it's a worthwhile entry. **Slumber Party Alien Abduction**: Likely the least impressive one. A curious choice for the ending. It attempts to be playful but unfortunately lacks the time needed to fully develop that idea before rushing to incorporate “horror” into this found footage short. _Final rating:★★½ - There was a lot I enjoyed, but it didn’t quite succeed as an entire collection._
