It doesn’t offer anything fresh and simply highlights how much the horror landscape needed a boost back in 2008. Jennifer Marsh is an agent with the secret service, specializing in online crime. She stumbles upon a website that can't be tracked, run by someone who carries out brutal killings for an audience. The catch is that the more viewers tune in to watch, the faster the victim dies—and, naturally, people are drawn to it. There’s not much to praise about this film beyond Diane Lane’s strong performance as Marsh and a few inventive deaths designed to appeal to those who enjoy graphic content. It feels like another formulaic horror thriller that appears every few months. The antagonist is underdeveloped, the writing lacks energy and imagination, and the resolution is entirely foreseeable, echoing countless other poorly executed endings. The concept had real potential; in today's internet-dominated world, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to tap into users’ anxieties. Unfortunately, it falls short, much like 2006’s *Stay Alive* did, relying on the idea itself to carry a lackluster genre film. If you’re a fan of *Hostel 12* and *Saw 37*, you might find something to appreciate here, but earlier films like the original *Saw*, *Cube*, and *My Little Eye* seem distant now—at least those had originality and spark. *Untraceable* simply feels like a major studio production exploiting the money of viewers who don't recognize how obvious its flaws are. It earns a 3/10, solely for Diane Lane’s work.
