I found myself incredibly restless near the end, to the point where I started looking at other people’s opinions of it while it was still on screen. Last night, I nearly decided to skip the rest and just go to bed because it wasn't delivering any scares. The visuals are nice, and the technical aspects are decent, although it's excessively dark (it seems like Hollywood doesn’t understand how to properly utilize HDR technology, so everything looks bad). There’s that actress from Odessa in it, who is attractive. The main problem is that it's dull rather than frightening; the narrative feels clumsy and disjointed, with an unusual rhythm to the events. Before I gave up and started reading reviews, I was wondering if this would have been better as a video game—I believe I’d enjoy playing it. And now I see that it actually *was* based on a game, so I think I'll go play that instead.
