Unstoppable proves to be a gripping thriller that maintains a high level of excitement throughout its runtime. The story itself is straightforward but full of suspense, and the acting from Denzel Washington and Chris Pine really enhances the experience. Their rapport makes you feel invested in what's happening, and it’s easy to become attached to their characters. The film excels at creating anticipation, and the speed at which things progress keeps it consistently interesting and accessible. However, I found some shortcomings with the writing. Although I recognize the purpose of scenes meant to develop the characters, certain exchanges seemed prolonged and detracted from the immediacy of events unfolding. It would have been better if more attention had been given to advancing the plot rather than extended conversations that didn't contribute much. I also struggled with aspects of the visuals; specifically, the camera’s tendency to circle around subjects frequently. While it appeared intended to convey a sense of movement and excitement, it ultimately felt like an unnecessary distraction and occasionally irritating. Even so, Unstoppable succeeds in its most important areas. The action set pieces are skillfully done, the overall feeling is captivating, and the ending feels complete, even if predictable. It might not have the best script, but because of the strong performances and constant forward motion, it’s a worthwhile way to spend some time. If you're after a quick-moving thriller with compelling lead actors and scenes packed with adrenaline, I would recommend checking it out.
