The premise isn’t groundbreaking; stories involving these kinds of age-old conflicts have appeared before. However, Kate Beckinsale is captivating as the agile and dangerous “Selene,” and Michael Sheen delivers a suitably threatening performance as "Lucian" in this story about vampires and werewolves. Scott Speedman offers some visual appeal, though his character, "Michael," doesn't contribute much beyond being the person Selene saves—a person who turns out to be more significant than either of them initially thought. Bill Nighy is excellent, playing “Viktor,” a recently awakened figure who was clearly looking forward to an extended rest. Dressed in leather and constantly moving through dark locations across the city, they have to evade capture while trying to stop plans that will restart the ancient feud between these two battling groups. The fight sequences are quite elaborate and tend to feel repetitive, and Shane Brolly’s depiction of “Kraven” is rather underwhelming; still, I found it enjoyable.
