Kristen Stewart manages to hold the film together, and that was unexpected. While many have praised her work after _Twilight_, I haven’t found much of it appealing. The runtime feels brief, though it's technically 95 minutes long. The creatures were interesting, or at least I think they were—it wasn’t always easy to get a good look at them. Despite its flaws, I generally enjoyed _Underwater_, finding it a decent combination of unsettling monsters, a disturbing setting, and dialogue that provides some moments of relief from the tension. However, the biggest issue is how heavily it borrows from other films. It's not necessarily a major problem on its own, but it leads to frequent comparisons; every few minutes I’d think, "This reminds me of X Movie—most often _Alien_—and I wish I were watching that instead." _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it.
