It's another movie centered on humans facing off against robots, though not an unpleasant entry in that subgenre. This might well be the project the director hoped would make a difference. It’s a science fiction drama with a small cast and a modest budget. Everyone involved seemed new to me, and I found them agreeable, but it could have been stronger overall. I did find myself entertained while watching, although I can't describe the script as particularly ingenious. It brought to mind 'Ex Machina', even though the premise started from a “what if” kind of place. Similar to ‘Big Stan’ and ‘Get Hard’, this film was conceived before 'Ex Machina' but unfortunately came out afterward. The plot involves a journalist who gets an interview with a scientist responsible for creating sophisticated artificial intelligence. The interaction lasts a week, and when the last day arrives, something awful occurs that changes everything you thought you knew about the story. The entire movie takes place within a large house; there’s no outside world visible, except for one brief scene on the terrace. I didn't completely guess the twist, but I had a vague idea of what was coming, so when it unfolded at the conclusion, I wasn't shocked. Considering it’s a B movie, the production values are quite good. If you’re looking for something outside the mainstream, this is worth a look. There aren't any impressive special effects to drive the story forward, but the important moments were handled effectively. The overall quality of the film and its production exceeded my expectations. It’s become increasingly common for filmmakers to use robots as a theme in their dramas, but whether they can execute it well is the question—and this one managed to pass muster. 6/10
