It has issues that echo criticisms leveled at IT COMES AT NIGHT. The movie doesn’t really develop its ideas deeply, it feels slow moving from one scene to the next, and there are horror moments that seem random and don’t serve any clear function. I feel like a more defined storyline would have helped, as well as more scenes showing the two main characters together—perhaps COVID-19 restrictions prevented this kind of interaction. It's disappointing and can be tedious to watch, although it does show some interesting ideas. Certain horror moments are visually striking and effectively staged, and the parts focusing on Fivel Stewart’s character have a much stronger sense of what they’re trying to achieve.
