It's an enjoyable film that I’d happily watch again and feel comfortable suggesting to others. What stands out is how unique it is. The take on vampires (referred to as hemophages), the science fiction elements, and even the depiction of corporate control are all presented in a fresh way. The closest comparison I can make would be the Umbrella Corporation from "Resident Evil." Milla Jovovich handles the action sequences with skill and manages to carry the entire movie effectively. While I suspect she has some influence on how things are made, the film’s shortcomings mostly stem from underdeveloped characters and what feels like a desire to include visually striking ideas regardless of their practicality. Some moments felt actively disruptive—there were times when it was hard not to notice certain elements, and other instances where choices just seemed strange, such as the use of squared-off swords. However, there are also some genuinely interesting concepts, like weapons created through dimensional printing, and scenes that simply look impressive even if they don’t make a lot of sense in terms of realism—like swords engulfed in flames during nighttime sequences. My own reservations involve the vampires' ability to be out in daylight, unusual sound effects for the firearms (some are accurate, but it’s difficult to tell with fictional weapons), and why characters would choose to rush into danger armed with guns instead of using them. I believe this film has aged well and remains as good as it was upon its initial release; I consistently enjoy watching it again.
