This film feels like a throwback to older movies, reminiscent of Natural Born Killers with touches of Tarantino’s style; it's a strange thriller featuring an assortment of unusual personalities. A young Joaquin Phoenix delivers a memorable performance as TNT, a rejected suitor. Billy Bob Thornton embodies the role of a mechanic from Superior, Arizona, and his portrayal almost single-handedly justifies watching the movie. Penn returns to playing a character he’s frequently done before, and executes it perfectly. It's an enjoyable film.
