Prepare yourself for an intense experience as Twentieth Century unfolds; it’s a screwball comedy pushed to its limits and rarely pauses. The film delivers one outlandish, unforgettable moment after another—standout examples include Carole Lombard being pricked with a pincushion and John Barrymore pretending to be mortally wounded so she'll agree to extend her contract. Barrymore’s performance is wonderfully theatrical, and I say that as a compliment. The movie’s extreme nature means viewers will likely have strong reactions—either embracing it completely or disliking it intensely. My sincere wish is that you fall into the former category.
