Following an incident where a student is subjected to public embarrassment during a truth or dare game, those involved receive an unexpected invitation to his secluded country home for a gathering. It's a recognizable setup: a group of irritating teens venture into the wilderness and encounter something they weren’t expecting. The story takes a turn fairly early on, showing promise as it moves toward a universe centered around revenge and graphic depictions of suffering, but the filmmakers seem to lean too heavily on this element. The dialogue is equally uninspired, and the plot suffers from numerous inconsistencies. Even the level of violence becomes tiresome, feeling like an attempt to distract from other shortcomings by prioritizing brutality in an effort to salvage the film. Still, it isn’t a complete loss. There are three performances that manage to be engaging throughout, and one particular narrative technique has some merit, despite the fact that viewers likely won't develop any connection with these characters. This is hard to suggest to anyone outside of those who specifically enjoy films focused on graphic violence and revenge plots, as its weaknesses ultimately detract from the overall experience. 4/10
