It’s remarkable how uncomplicated this film turned out to be, even though *‘True Crime’* remains quite good. Clint Eastwood’s central performance is pleasing and he has solid support from Isaiah Washington. Several familiar actors appear alongside them, including Denis Leary, Michael McKean, James Woods, and Bernard Hill; Lucy Liu also appears in a small part. I initially anticipated a major revelation, but the plot unfolded pretty much as I—or at least I—predicted. This isn’t necessarily a flaw, because what we get is diverting and held my attention from beginning to end – it just seems like there are moments where it hints at something else. If I had to point out anything that wasn't ideal, it would be the comedy; occasionally it lands well, but other times it falls flat—not a significant issue, though.
