It’s a lengthy movie, though generally worth sitting through. I did like 'Troy'. It's notable, considering Benioff’s more recent projects, that this was written by him. There are some noticeable problems with the film’s rhythm, but they didn't really detract from my enjoyment—at least, not significantly. The music felt a bit underwhelming, though. The actors chosen for the roles were great, even if I don’t feel all of their performances were exceptional. Brad Pitt and Eric Bana, while entertaining to watch, seemed stiff at times. Beyond them, Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean seem like they didn't get as much opportunity to act as they could have—even though their characters are very important to the story. There are also a lot of other recognizable actors in it, including Peter O’Toole, Brendan Gleeson, Rose Byrne, and Diane Kruger; it really is an ensemble piece. The action helps keep things from feeling slow, and the battle scenes are executed well. The film takes quite a while to get to the story's central event, but when it finally arrives, it’s very good. What I remember most about this movie are the actors and the action sequences. I don’t feel qualified to speak on how accurately it portrays the source material. Overall, as a film, I thought it was quite good.
