It seems like most of the other opinions shared here come from people who aren’t really interested in technology. TRON (1982) presented a remarkably inventive idea, something far ahead of its era. Considering when it was made, the visuals were state-of-the-art; I even think some of the physical effects are superior to what we see now with computer animation because they give the film a rough quality that’s frequently missing from movies today. The acting is adequate enough for me to accept the story and picture them genuinely existing within a digital realm. The idea of programs being like "people" reflects conflicts over authority – particularly in big companies – and highlights a theme about selflessness, which humanity often finds difficult to prioritize above wanting more. The core point is that technology should serve people instead of controlling them. This message feels even more relevant today as corporations become increasingly powerful, drawing us into online systems and ways of thinking that make it easy to buy things we don’t require, ultimately wasting our time and energy.
