This film represents a significant step up from the initial one, particularly for someone who didn’t find much enjoyment in the 1982 version. *TRON: Legacy* feels considerably more lively, well-crafted, and real. I was able to relate to the characters this time around, which contrasts sharply with my experience of the first film. The special effects are a substantial improvement, as would be anticipated; I find the visual style really appealing. It’s good to see some depth given to the personal lives of the main characters, instead of just getting a brief background before they're thrown into this new world—I appreciated that gradual introduction. The soundtrack is also fantastic, although hearing Daft Punk’s "Outlands" feels odd because I associate it with Sky Sports UK’s Formula 1 opening sequence. Garrett Hedlund does a wonderful job as Sam; I was engaged by his performance from the start. Jeff Bridges is also excellent—I think all of the actors were given more to work with in this film overall; I hardly noticed Bridges and the others in the earlier movie, but he really shines here. Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen are good additions too, and Cillian Murphy even has a brief role. To me, it comes across as an entirely different kind of movie compared to *'Tron'*, which might be upsetting for fans of that film, but it’s welcome news for people like myself. I wasn't certain what I was going to get from this, but thankfully it turned out to be a fun experience.
