The film’s visual presentation is undeniable; the money spent on special effects is clearly apparent. However, what's disappointing is how little substance there is beneath all that spectacle—there’s a lack of meaningful plot, suspense, or characters who are engaging or sympathetic, which ultimately turns it into just pretty imagery. It seems Disney missed the point of what made the original film so beloved (which wasn’t initially successful) and has continued to make missteps with subsequent installments, only worsening the situation with this one. I'm unable to award it a higher rating because while there aren't any technical flaws, it doesn't possess enough depth to justify anything above a 4. It’s simply beautiful to look at.
