It’s an acceptable film, something I might revisit, though I wouldn’t necessarily suggest it unless you’re looking for a trip down memory lane to the early 1990s. The performances here are a striking illustration of how actors known for their talent or fame can deliver unusual portrayals. Jon Lovitz appears largely unchanged, but Dana Carvey definitely leans into a silly performance for comedic effect; I’m honestly unsure about Nicholas Cage's choices in this film, though. Initially, his character seems relatively normal, then he abruptly shifts as if he’s just experienced cocaine again, and right when it looks like things will stabilize, he erratically switches between different personas. The storyline—involving a group of individuals robbing a small-town bank and subsequently being at the whim of those they robbed, all while grappling with the moral consequences of their actions alongside their own problems—is genuinely engaging, but its potential for real depth gets lost in a lot of humor that doesn’t always work well and is sometimes hampered by the circumstances. I doubt anyone will find this movie truly objectionable, it's just that there are countless other options available.
