I understand that not all films are exceptional or even very good, but there are still plenty of enjoyable ones out there—this is one of them. It’s become a personal favorite Christmas film; I always make time to watch it each year and consider it essential viewing. The three central characters and the actors portraying them are what appeal to me most. Certain moments can be quite absurd, but on balance, I find it enjoyable. It's a crime story with unexpectedly touching elements. It’s humorous, goofy, and eccentric, and I appreciate all of the performers involved. The film concludes in a way that feels appropriate, and Nicholas Cage delivers a performance consistent with his usual style—occasionally leaning into over-the-top acting, but it's something I generally like about him and most of his films. I suggest giving it a chance; I believe you’ll find it worthwhile. It seems many viewers anticipate every movie they see will be perfect, whereas I prefer to discover smaller, well-made films such as this one.
