The _Transformers_ movies have consistently failed to impress. Some people characterize the series as simple entertainment with exciting action and impressive special effects; however, that description might only apply to the third installment. The initial film showed potential and possessed a sense of innocent excitement. Still, neither movie achieved genuine quality. The second _Transformers_ film was simply awful. However, when _Age of Extinction_ arrived in 2014, the series reached unprecedented depths of poor filmmaking. Experiencing _Transformers_ wasn't just tedious or dull; it was deeply unpleasant. It was so terrible that I felt ill and intensely frustrated, bordering on genuine anger. There’s a common idea that if a movie evokes any kind of emotion, it can be considered successful—whether sadness, excitement, curiosity, happiness, sentimentality, madness, affection, dread, comfort—and I usually agree with that. The emotions I experienced while watching _Age of Extinction_ were not signs of success; they represented a complete failure. It was a monumental disappointment on a scale comparable to those found in the Guinness Book of World Records. _Transformers: The Last Knight_ is at least as bad, if not worse. It didn't have the distinction of featuring a character seemingly intended to excuse inappropriate behavior, which is something it has over its predecessor. _Final rating:_½ - It’s so poor that it’s offensive.
