The story centers on "Stan" (Koen De Bouw) and a group of varied Dutch resistance fighters tasked with transporting uranium to the Americans during the frantic race to build an atomic weapon. Predictably, the Nazis aren't happy about this clever scheme and put their entire navy on high alert. The question is whether "Capt. Stan" can maintain order among his unconventional team, handle his spirited daughter (Ella-June Henrard) and her boyfriend (Joren Seldeslachts), and successfully avoid their pursuing and formidable enemy. While the story’s foundation has potential, the way it's presented leaves much to be desired. The special effects are serviceable but rudimentary, and the plot soon spirals into absurdity; the acting and writing feel like a student film production. The submarine endures explosions, intense underwater pressure, and occasional outbursts from the crew—each attempting to outdo the others in terms of ridiculousness. There’s even one sequence where the protagonist swims out through an opening in the hull at considerable depth, then enters via a torpedo tube to save someone... Really!? Ultimately, this is one of those television movies that struggled to secure funding with what seems like a large number of producers involved, resulting in a rather silly underwater adventure that I can’t honestly suggest—not even to die-hard enthusiasts of submarine action films.
