I recall seeing this film shortly after its release in Sweden when I was younger. Back then, it didn't make much of an impression on me. I anticipated a war movie packed with action and instead received something dull where the heroes ended up defeated by the conclusion. I don’t believe I had any understanding of the actual occurrences surrounding Pearl Harbor at that point either. Now, my perspective is quite different, and when I watched it again last night, I found myself enjoying it considerably. However, I do question how accurate it is to historical events. If someone had suggested this was purely a Hollywood fabrication, and a rather predictable one at that, I likely would have believed them. I find myself wondering if all of these mistakes genuinely occurred. It's obvious the Japanese didn’t reveal everything they were capable of, but there seemed to be so many errors throughout. Reports weren't passed on, communications were chaotic, people requested confirmations in a nonsensical manner, planes were arranged as easy targets – and so forth. If this is truly how things unfolded, then some movie scripts that appear far-fetched might not be as unbelievable as they seem. Of course, the film suffers from being predictable. What else would you expect when it aims to portray actual, well-known events? I suspect I would have considered it predictable even if I hadn't known what was going to happen. Nevertheless, in my opinion, it’s an enjoyable and well-made movie.
