It would have benefited from being something more substantial, but as it stands, there’s still enjoyment to be had. *Tomorrowland* presents an interesting vision of the future, though it doesn't explore its promising concept with the depth that seems possible; it touches on things and provides reasonably good entertainment. The visual effects are quite impressive too. The acting choices weren't ideal, in my opinion, but I found myself appreciating the performances of Britt Robertson (as Casey), George Clooney (as Frank), Raffey Cassidy (as Athena) and Hugh Laurie (as David)—Laurie delivers a memorable outburst later on. I appreciate how the narrative unfolds primarily through flashbacks narrated by Robertson and Clooney; it helps maintain engagement. I can’t shake the feeling that more could have been made of this, especially considering how entertaining it is even now and given its inherent possibilities. Regardless, I did end up liking it, albeit narrowly.
