It’s acceptable, though it falls short when compared to Disney’s earlier movie from the nineties based on Mark Twain's *The Adventures of Huck Finn*. To be accurate, this one centers more on Tom Sawyer, which is a positive thing considering they had already shown Huck just two years before. The performer who takes on the role I mentioned isn’t particularly remarkable; Brad Renfro does an adequate job, but he doesn’t leave much of an impression. Jonathan Taylor Thomas, however, portrays Tom and is likely the strongest element of this film. His playful nature suits the character well. Eric Schweig (as Injun Joe) also delivers a solid performance as the antagonist. I appreciate the overall feel of *Tom and Huck*; I believe it could have been better without the romantic subplot, but that doesn’t significantly detract from the experience. The movie moves at a slower speed than I would want, especially toward the conclusion where it feels slightly drawn out. Nevertheless, my rating is largely due to Mr. Thomas's contribution.
