Remarkable, genuinely remarkable. When I started watching 'Togo', my initial thought was that it would feel familiar, like other Disney movies with similar themes—films such as 'White Fang' or 'Iron Will'. Those are enjoyable films in their own way, but this 2019 film, which recounts a real event, elevates the experience considerably. It’s deeply emotional from beginning to end. The script is excellent; I found myself consistently surprised by how the narrative progressed. It’s visually gorgeous and meticulously crafted, with superb set design, and the musical score is wonderful. The dogs are utterly endearing throughout—particularly Togo (Diesel), who carries the film. There were numerous instances that evoked a wide range of emotions in me. The canine cast is fantastic and incredibly lovable. Beyond all of that, Willem Dafoe delivers an exceptional performance. Prior to seeing this, my memory of him was largely tied to 'Mr. Bean’s Holiday'; this role now overshadows that one—he does a truly outstanding job. Julianne Nicholson also deserves recognition. What a film it is. It exceeded all expectations, and thankfully, online reviews reflect that sentiment as well. I highly recommend seeing it.
