It’s a genuine pleasure when actors known for comedy demonstrate their range with serious roles, and that’s part of what drew me to this film. Ed Helms is someone most people enjoy, but the plot about having a baby has been done so many times before that I worried *Together Together* might fall flat. Thankfully, it's not only an imaginative title—one viewers will likely understand as the story unfolds—but also a sweet, funny, and endearing story of platonic affection that manages to inform audiences about surrogacy. Ed Helms really shows what he’s capable of here. His character, Matt, is genuinely interesting, and Anna is too; both characters are exceptionally well-developed thanks to Nikole Beckwith's clever writing. The movie has a lighthearted feel with intelligent humor, and Helms and Patti Harrison give wonderful performances, though I have to mention Beckwith’s script again—the dialogue feels so authentic, honest, and true to life. While romantic comedies aren’t usually my thing, especially the trope of two strangers falling for each other in an unexpected way, *Together Together* left me feeling really good. That's honestly the greatest praise I can give this film: it made me happy. Even though it still feels familiar and predictable at times, I wasn't bored once, didn’t find myself disbelieving anything, and laughed out loud quite a bit. It's one of those movies that could genuinely improve someone’s mood after seeing it. To be honest, I had just watched *Mass*, which was emotionally intense, so I needed something lighter like *Marvelous and the Black Hole* and *Together Together* to lift my spirits afterward. So, thank you to everyone who worked on this film. The screenplay is cleverly written, lending a joyful atmosphere that extends even to the title itself, which turns out to have more significance than initially apparent. Ed Helms and Patti Harrison share a believable connection, giving us two charming portrayals of characters it’s easy to care about. Nevertheless, Nicole Beckwith deserves all the credit for her fresh perspective on such a well-worn subject while also educating viewers about surrogacy. From the realistic conversations to the surprisingly effective humor (I didn't anticipate laughing so much), I couldn’t be more pleased. I know the ending is intentionally sudden, but I’m not completely sure it quite landed with me. Rating: B+
