This isn’t a film for everyone—and that includes my own tastes! I generally enjoy Terrence Malick’s movies, but this one didn't work for me. His storytelling tends to focus on what happens rather than the dialogue itself. Also, impressive imagery is usually a key element and something he’s known for, yet it’s noticeably absent here. He clearly put in effort, but I found it incredibly dull—the most boring movie I’ve watched in quite some time. I feel bad criticizing him, but I have to say the film felt like something Willem Dafoe might attempt in a movie like 'Mr. Bean's Holiday.' The difference is that there was no Mr. Rowan Atkinson/Bean around to liven things up with his own humorous touches. It’s going directly onto my “regret watching” list. 2.5/10
