Chatila (Mahmoud Bakri) and his cousin Reda (Aram Sabbah) are Palestinian refugees living in Athens, attempting to scrape together enough money for counterfeit passports that will allow them entry into Germany. Their ambition is to open a family-run café there. To achieve this, they resort to minor theft, and Reda occasionally works as a sex worker in the park. As their goal comes closer, Reda uses some of their funds to purchase drugs from Abu Love (Mouataz Alshaltouh), which creates conflict between them but also sparks an idea in Chatila’s mind. They have become friendly with Malik (Mohammad Alsurata), whose aunt lives in Italy, and, relying on the assistance of a new acquaintance, Tatiana (Angeliki Papoulia) – who possesses a genuine ID card – they decide to offer their own people-smuggling service to finance their journey. This plan doesn’t unfold as expected, but it leads them toward a more direct method. With increasing strain between the men and Reda battling his drug addiction, will these two ever reach their desired destination? Initially, there's something endearing about these two men in their efforts to gather the money they require; they look out for one another and even take the young boy under their care. However, this changes as their desperation intensifies. Pressure from families back home increases, and both men recognize that this is a path filled with dishonest individuals and unreliable people, and it seems inevitable that authorities will eventually discover what's happening. It’s this feeling of suspense that’s effectively conveyed by two actors who portray complex characters; even when they are at their most deceitful, it’s difficult not to feel empathy for them. The film highlights the circumstances that drive individuals to extreme actions and employs a rather unique storytelling approach to depict the struggles faced by undocumented immigrants—their resourcefulness in circumventing security measures and the dangers inherent in this process. While there are inconsistencies in the plot, and some aspects don’t quite make sense, the core message is clear and presents a deeply human story of brotherhood with undertones of potential tragedy.
