Alice Lowe's Timestalker first caught my eye because of what seemed like a great starting point—particularly since I was so fond of her earlier work, Prevenge. The unusual and darkly funny approach Lowe used in that movie led me to anticipate something equally clever and original here. Sadly, even with its creative idea, Timestalker lost its energy far sooner than I’d wanted it to. The notion of a romantic fixation involving time travel across many years seems like it should provide plenty of opportunities for laughs. However, the film uses up its strongest comedic bits pretty quickly, resulting in a story that doesn't really keep moving forward. Although there are a few amusing scenes at the beginning, and Lowe’s particular style is noticeable, the rhythm feels off, and much of what’s intended to be funny just doesn’t last. I was hoping for something as good as Prevenge, but Timestalker didn't fully live up to what it could have been.
