Timecrimes is an ingenious science fiction film that works exceptionally well given its limited resources. The majority of the action unfolds within just three areas—a residence, some woodland, and a laboratory containing the device for traveling through time—but this doesn’t create any sense of restriction. On the contrary, the narrow setting actually enhances the suspense and concentration on what's happening. The performances were good; nothing showy or exaggerated, but rather genuine and convincing, which helped hold my attention. The storyline is easy to understand, yet it still finds ways to take you by surprise. It’s one of those films that resolves everything satisfyingly at the end, so I expect I'll want to see it again. I found myself really liking Timecrimes. It demonstrates that a substantial budget or elaborate special effects aren’t necessary for an entertaining and thought-provoking narrative. The film is intelligent, captivating, and recommended if you appreciate stories involving time travel paradoxes.
